Holiday season is nearly here – it seems like we were just celebrating the spring blooms! The warm weather may be gone, but the fall and winter seasons offer their own delights: Warm drinks, cozy cashmere sweaters, glorious galas and endless social affairs. If you’re anything like us your card will be full through December – and at least one of those dates will include attending – or even planning – a holiday office party.
Over the years, holiday office parties truly have gotten a bad reputation: Many of us aren’t excited about spending our free time with our co-workers and bosses. Food isn’t always the best and conversations can range from stilted to downright boring. Well here at Tony Brewer and Co., we believe a beautiful atmosphere can not only please the eye, it can inspire! With a little attention to detail, planning and creativity, you’re sure to plan the perfect holiday office party in no time.
Holiday Office Party Decor
- Try a creative theme
When planning a holiday party, a Noel theme might seem like the most obvious choice. Christmas tree-shaped plates, Santa accents, etc. are some of the common approaches. This year, try a more editorial interpretation. Instead of incorporating traditionally Christmas-themed items, make color a theme. Bright reds, deep greens and golds all offer less literal interpretations that nonetheless capture that holiday warmth. A winter white theme is another staple of late-season weddings that rarely makes it into social gatherings. Stretch your mind and think of what creative images, feelings and thoughts evoke holiday joy. Don’t limit your ideas to decor. Incorporating a signature drink like this winter white Cosmopolitan is another way to carry your winter or holiday theme. It’s OK to think outside of the box – your guests are sure to appreciate your efforts!
Holiday Office Party Dining
- Consider small bites
One of the key areas where holiday office parties may be lacking is in actual socializing. Part of the reason may be as simple as the menu. We’re huge fans of small bites! Entrees are fab, but don’t tie your guests to a table all night. Tapas-style hors d’ouevres are what we like to call “mingle-friendly” – easy for guests to carry around as they strike up conversations. We recently hosted an event featuring autumn-inspired small bites of pumpkin bellini with smoked salmon and caviar. These little touches won’t only encourage socializing, they’ll be the highlight of the party!
